Mouse House

Mouse House

Mouse House, a Ludum Dare 37 entry.

Mouse House was my submission for Ludum Dare 37. The theme was One Room, and I had trouble coming up with a game that suited the theme. Eventually I came around to the idea that the user would be a mouse with cats and humans chasing it. I was using Love2D for the first time, so I didn’t have high expectations. Mouse House easily could have been better had it been on KA, but it was good practice in coding off of Khan Academy.

I chose to make the game in black and white, but I chose not to use pixel graphics. I always feel that pixel graphics are just for people that are lazy, but looking back on the game, it would have been much easier to use them and would have greatly helped with the feel of the game. I spend most of my time making graphics, as I couldn’t find a good place to do it, and I didn’t get to code as much as I would have liked. The artwork didn’t really fit, and the game was way too short.

It’s Mouse House, a black and white game where you have to escape from the humans and cats! Controls: RIGHT or D: Turn right LEFT or A: Turn left UP or W: Move forwards Avoid the projectiles thrown by the humans and run away from the cats. Pick up cheeses to get a short boost! Make your way to the mouse hole in the bottom left corner to win.

Mouse House was made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 37. Because it wasn’t made on Khan Academy, a link to the is embedded below.
